I’m super interested in the intersection of electromechanical systems and software and have always wanted to transition into a more Robotics SWE space. However companies I’ve seen in this space seem to pay much lower than typical SWE roles from what I’ve seen on Glassdoor. Are there any robotics companies that have a competitive SWE TC? #engineering #software #swe #robotics
Outside of the TC, what should I learn/read to do this transition? Would going back for a master's be useful?
Id say Python and C++ are best for hardware related projects and also being able to network and know Linux.
Try doing projects that make you communicate with hardware even if on the side, you can take classes but I’ve always found doing actual projects to be where I learn the most useful skills.
Tesla has some robotics for their production lines although that’s not the best TC possible
What type of robots? Mobile or manipulators?

There’s a robotics group in X (formerly known as “Google X”).
Is this the everyday robotics group? Do they have competitive TC comparable to google SWE?
