When transfering large files between computers over wan, what has the best balance with performance and ease of setup? Im using rsync right now and there seems to be a large overhead when transfering through ssh.
No idea what this looks like
I dont see this in stack overflow
Actually it does a little bit
And stack overflow doesnt have a good answer for this
Rsync is the second best option for all your file transfer needs. The best option depends on your specific use case.
Performance, low setup time
Not very specific. nc has the lowest overhead and very low setup time, but zero features and restricted to a single channel.
What are your thougts on ftp?
Just scp for christ sake
Pretty much what i ak already doing.
Have you tried turning on compression?
In rsync?
Yeah
Ill give it a shot but compression might not help as my files are already in some kind of compressed format.
