So I have a new manager (he joined a month ago) and we had our one on one today and it was towards the end of the convo and all of a sudden he left the video chat without saying bye or anything. I slacked him saying “did your internet die?” And he responds “please send X the new white paper” Like wtf..... Do I say something to him or not? Also what are your thoughts on this type of behavior? I’m at a 15 person startup without HR and honestly my team mates have been rude and sneaky wish I could report them. No nonsense comments please. #startup #hr #manager
Ah, if the culture doesnt get adjusted to begin with it will slowly deteriorate further. I think you should speak to whoever leads it and raise concerns about these things, and how it can spiral out of control.
I'm pretty nonconfrontational, but my gut says, let him know that the abrupt end to your chat caught you off guard. If he responds poorly, maybe it's a signal he isn't someone you want to work with long term. If he responds positively and indicates he'll make an adjustment, problem solved.
But there is a downside to confronting. There are these unique type of people, who would listen to your confronting rant, will make you feel heard and will definitely give you the optics that "oh I am sorry if it came out that way" but behind all of this - just bcz you confronted them and they didn't expect such a thing coming from you - they will act like a snitch and do everything to make it more tough and miserable for you. Plus if it's your manager and a start up that too 15 man string only - the manger knows "it's either his way or the highway" So dude be careful while you chart your path.
Startups are plagued with new managers. A good manager would not do this and would listen and adjust. Heed the warning above.
No you don't say anything. This isn't a problem. Honestly if you complained about something stupid like this and I was your boss I'd fire you

Sure. Whatever. Be an adult. Or you know stay in college forever
People dont know how to end meetings gracefully.
I don’t know if it’s just my group or the whole Salesforce, but my every meeting ends with thank yous, byes, and hand-waves. It’s literally all 3 every time. I think if pandemic continues, it will escalate to “you drop first”, “no, you drop first”. God please make it back to the normal soon.
when surrounded by idiots, the only polite thing to do is act dumb and let them think they have these magic soft skills to over power you
If you complain he will let you go

then what __init__ said.
your boss is a moron that can't handle their time and needs to rush from meeting to meeting, having no idea most likely at any of them. they will push you to fill in their gaps and screw you as needed. get out
Your gut is right it’s really rude. There’s no reason you should put up with it. Look for a new gig. F that guy

Startups are stressful. Don’t take it personally
They are, but that doesn’t mean people / managers cannot have a shred of common decency.
