What is meta?
Why is Facebook called Meta while Google is not referred to as Alphabet ?
Can you share interview experience?
I thought the interviews were pretty good at both companies. Google seemed harder and less polished. Facebook was much harder to tell how I did. Ultimately I scrapped by somehow. In general for management, you get 1 technical execution, 1 people management , and a project deep dive ( which is often combined with one of the previous ones) . For technical you get 2 system design and 1 coding or code review. Google's interviews got very low level in these while facebooks were higher level. Think threading models and internals of data structures vs scaling issues. System design is king here as you are expected to be more high level as a manager. I did like 20 leet codes to practice, but spent more time on system design. I practiced and failed on the management interviews at dropbox, amazon, a random startup, and coinbase. Had to learn a lot of lingo and signals these big companies look for. I got offers from Indeed, Meta, Google. The culture fit for management was much stronger there and they were my last 3 places. Also they had technical aspects sooner rather than later which I think is a strength of me compared to other managers. The ones I failed had no technical aspects in the first few interviews, but I learned a ton.
What can someone read or study to do better on the management portion?
G is really upping their lowball game
Yeah this is after them trying to match my meta offer as well. It was lower. They only try to match the first 2 years and think that is ok because "refreshers" and stock performance. They act like meta is going to go much lower and they don't have refreshers.
Meta refreshers are better than G from what I hear.
Absolutely go for Meta you’re probably not sticking around longer than 4 years anyways. Congratulations!
Go to Meta, this lowballing is a disgrace, and Google finally has to pay for that
Why first yr in meta is high? Did you include the sign on?
yes they do seem to include sign on for both companies
Thanks for good syntax
Meta all day - stock is trading at a super low PE - 50% more refresher (160 for G vs 240?? I think for Meta) - if you kill it there, Meta's performance multipliers are better (1.4-1.6x at G to 2-3x at Meta) - faster promos Within 2years, you'll be making 300k/yr than you would with that G offer. The only upside with G, safer place, boring but safe stock, and an upcoming stock split.
take into account refreshers at MA as well
Yeah meta refreshes year 1, google not until year 2. Google really tries to upsell that they are taking that refresher into account. At Meta you will have a cliff at year 4 but year 4 comp will be very high. Google is more slow and steady.
also meta refreshers increased by about 25% this year. E6 is around 220-250 for meets all. i think google is 160
