A lot of people were clamoring for CK to be fired. A lot of people were saying SAP is an old dinosaur and can’t move to the cloud. Based on Q3 results it appears that we’re heading in the right direction and starting to gain momentum in the cloud. And the largest quarter ever is coming! https://accelerationeconomy.com/cloud-wars/cloud-wars-minute/sap-expects-largest-q4-ever/
Can meta join the dinosaur club?
Is SAP’s cloud growth actually cloud or is it the managed on-premise S/4 HANA offering SAP likes to pretend is cloud?
Yeah it’s the latter. I never see true cloud SAP deployments (SuccessFactors etc), just their weird managed on premise S/4 HANA deployments which are a little yuck.
Big chunk of it is public cloud. But a lot of it is private cloud, too
It's been obvious for a while that the cloud strategy is clearly working.
Putting on-premise software on hyperscaler infrastructure is not real cloud momentum, sure we can change the revenue tho, but it is shit margin
That is changing slowly. Public cloud is gaining momentum and we’re pushing public cloud due to higher margins. More and more companies are selecting public cloud over private cloud. Now of course not everyone will be a fit for public cloud.
Public cloud meets midmarket needs so the customer base is growing but the revenue is tiny. Unfortunately we won’t get much revenue in Public for another 5-7 years. It is going in the right direction, just going to take a very long time and we won’t convert our larger customers.
The whole GCS does lift and shift. Talks about our cloud strategy
Why are you sharing 3 week old articles as new news? Feeling down about yourself at the old dinosaur SAP?
Im def not blind to sap shortcomings but bro youre at Workday 🤣.
