Hi, I am 32 and have 6 YoE working as a SAP SD functional consultant. I have recieved excellent reviews in the past. I found out blind and levels.fyi a few months back. Realised that WITCH salaries in SAP Consulting are generally 1.5 to 2 X YOE and that is unlikely to change in the Indian MNC market. Even solution architects in USA make 110-130k per year. I was planning of switching careers to ML and AI. The other option was to do an MBA and get into business and management consulting. I also want to move to USA permanently. Is doing my masters in USA at this age, getting a F1, then H1B a good choice at this stage? #careerswitch #sap #machinelearning #mba #salaries
If you do an MBA in the US you will get only one year of OPT and therefore one attempt at getting the H1B whereas an MS in STEM will give you three. Switching to ML/AI is easier if you already were in development. Only you can decide if getting an F1 at your age is worth it. When I started my MS, I was 21 and everyone was around the same age. The oldest guys I knew were around 23 or slightly older if they were doing PhD. MBA students will be around your age. I'm 33 now and I don't think I can ever live with 21 year old roommates - I had way too much energy and studying was not at the top of my mind. If you decide to go for it, live alone - the additional expense will be worth it.
