SCPD backdoor to MS CS Stanford?

My goal is to get MS CS at Stanford. Coming from a low profile state school in CS, I think this MS would provide good leverage for my future career. 1. How is MS CS at Stanford overall? Is it worth the money? 2. Even if I could hypothetically get A’s in their grad non-degree courses, does my not so great GPA (~3.0) limit my chance to transfer to MS CS? I don’t think the Santa Clara Police Department would like you installing a backdoor

Email Graduate Admissions to talk to a Stanford admissions counselor about this.

Can't you just get an MS in CS from SCPD directly by taking courses? Why do you need to use a "backdoor"and transfer to being a full time student?

Nope.

Additional question, any bay area companies known to help pay (full/partial) for a masters?

Google əๅɓoo⅁ Jun 3, 2019

Google pays 2/3 up to 12K/year.

Oracle lHEA77 Jun 3, 2019

Oracle pays like $5k or something per year, which covers a little more than one SCPD class, but you can ask for approval for more if you need it. (And they pay 100% of the cost of whatever is approved.)

It’s not exactly a backdoor. You still have to apply to the MS program and get accepted. However they will consider your performance in the SCPD classes and you can transfer some limited number of credits (I think it’s 9) from SCPD classes to the degree. Is it worth the time/effort/money? Debatable...

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I am interested in taking their Mining Massive Dataset and Data-intensive system classes. Hopefully my performance in these classes could help my not so great undergrad GPA

Your only hope of admission is to get a corporate tele-classes degree where the company pays twice the tuition as a bribe. You'll never be qualified for the full-time program those people are f****** Brilliant.

There is no such thing as what you are describing from Stanford.
