I just got promoted to SDE II. I know that FAANG has equivalent levels that map easily, but what about to other companies? What position would they bring me in at small companies? What about contractors like Lockheed and Northrop? And Wall Street joints like Goldman Sachs and Bloomberg? I get the feeling that this promotion and experience opens up a whole lot of lucrative and fulfilling opportunities elsewhere... I'm trying to gauge what those opportunities would be like.
www.levels.fyi has a few more smaller companies now. Probably the closest to what you're asking for I've seen.
It opens up a lot of opportunities within the company, but I'm not seeing how it would be that much more helpful outside the company. When I interviewed I was never asked about my level, they just knew I was an SDE and asked what compensation I was looking for.
Congrats man....u r awesome ☺️
Honestly it’s not going to open up more opportunities than an SDE 1-you will get interviews in tons of places and if you prepare well you can get senior engineer at a smaller company or mid size company
