Team, I have a job offer which pays me $170 in downtown SF. I have a family and my wife is a work at home mom. (Im almost getting fired and I need to take it) I currently stay in Seattle and need a change as well from my depression. Should I stay in eastbay and drive everyday or should I stay in SF. Eastbay rent of $3000 + parking + toll (for a decent home ) is $4000 [luxury] Living in SF for rent $4250 + train \ Bart cost. I have a home in seattle which I’m going to rent out.i need minimum 1200/2bed life is not worth contesting and living in a 800sft for the city. I’m absolutely fine with a 45min drive one way. It doesn’t bother me at all.
Wallnut creek, Castro valley. Hey ward , Richmond, paleo etc. anything that is 10 miles from Oakland bay bridge junction
Walnut Creek, Lafayette and orinda are great. Good school safe area. You can BART to work
I only know SF by map and by articles. Do excuse me if my terminologies are wrong
Dude, that’s not a lot of money to live in SF
Is your wife work from home and earning?
No she focuses on kids
I am planning to move to Redmond on August. is your appointment far from Redmond? :)
I live in shoreline
I know it’s not a lot of money. (I have stocks for $150k/year also which I’m not mentioning here because it doesnot count in the context. I don’t want the thread to side track and analyze if the move Is worth or not) I don’t want the thread to side track and analyze if the move Is worth or not. Stay in the East Bay because rent is more reasonable and is generally more family friendly than SF. Walnut Creek or Castro Valley may be good options for you.
Oh and definitely take BART to downtown SF (driving/parking would be a pain).
Seconded. Walnut Creek and Lafayette have good school systems and are very nice for suburbs. If you commute to SF I strongly advise BART, the cost is worth it, especially if your company subsidizes.
Where in the East Bay?
