[Updated on 6/8, did not get offer] I have found a lack of resource in what the SFA interview process is like at Google on Blind, so I'm documenting my process for all to benefit from. Current: Amazon L6, $155k TC, Seattle, 7 YOE Step 1: I got contacted by a recruiter via email Step 2: I had a phone screen with recruiter a few days later. It encompassed walkthrough of resume (make sure you link a bit in why it's useful experience), specific areas of Google I'd like to work, things I'm looking for in my next role. Concluded with next steps stating they will send my resume out to hiring managers. Step 3: A hiring manager expressed interest and has scheduled an interview. Step 4: Hiring Manager Interview Overall very positive experience. Role was for product finance, Pixel products. Walked through resume. I was asked a fair amount of technical questions. I was asked to walk him through an income statement for Pixel, went deep on which various COGS it would have, finished with Net Income. Other technical included how they may measure lifetime value (specific to role in job req). Then was asked behavioral questions like "tell me about a time when you influenced the business with data?". Received confirmation next day from recruiter I was in the next round of interviews. Step 5: Round 2, back-to-back interviews I met with the Director of the finance team and then a cross-functional business partner immediately after. Overall positive experience continued. More walking through of resume to kick off conversation. Was asked to go in detail on two big projects that would be relevant to share. Technical questions mostly around how I'd forecast annual sales for a new Pixel phone launch. Hypothetical question on "How would you forecast the % of Pixel users who would subscribe to a free 3-month subscription to a snack box?". Was told next day I was not going to final rounds. Though I had very relevant work experience for this role, I believe my hypothetical answers were very weak. This brings me to my tips... Tips: -Interviewers will all be very kind, do not stress over them -Prepare specific financials that could be applicable in role, how would you forecast them -Have structure to the hypothetical. You will likely receive a very ambiguous problem statement. These are by far the toughest part of it and hard to prepare for. They do not care about the answer but rather how you get there. The forecast % of Pixel users question stumped me because it was hard thinking of new points of data. -Email recruiter after each interview. I found that they responded faster to me with results than other friends who are in similar interviews. Good luck in your pursuit! Hope this helps. #google #googlefinance #amazon
Taking a lateral move to leave?
Yeah, just seeking a new chapter in life though becoming Finance Manager (L6.5) is in my sights if I remain at AMZN. I am ready to grow in another environment, even if a lateral move
In the process now for me it was: Reached out to recruiter I had connected with before. Had recruiter screen the following week. Invited to interview with 3 managers 10 days later. Interviews took place the following week via video chat. Currently waiting for feedback from recruiter whether I’ll go to HC.
Any tips or things to be prepared for with the managers? Strangely, I just have the hiring manager interview now then presumably 3 more interviews will follow, if I pass through this.
Hey would you mind sharing the recruiter contact? Hoping to reach out to one for a role for my friend, thanks! Also really appreciate OP's detailed follow-up summary. Best of luck on the next role -- have you looked into Uber/Instacart?
What was the recruiter screen like?
Same as the OP’s
