Is it just me or others insecure that the TC for an existing employee, levelled up after promo, is way less compared to external hires!? The gap within band at same level is almost equal to one full fte in some other companies!! Edit 1: I want everyone of us amazonians to just leave We shouldn't be treated like shit! You are paid for your skill at any given level, it should not depend on your negotiation skill and should never be different for new vs existing, men vs women or white vs black! It's simple, any section underpaid for same work has to voice their concerns, if we don't we continue to be manipulated by the employers! If women didn't bring up the disparity in pay gap with their male counterparts there wouldn't be efforts towards equal pay! If ultrawode band gap is also something everyone starts being ok with, it will never be fixed!
Just approved an offer with a TC slightly above mine for a person who is going to be reporting to me. The market is crazy out there + it took 6 months to find the right person. It’s definitely not a pleasant thing, but it’s going to make my life easier, so I’m ok with it.

Climbing up doesn’t really work at Amazon as they don’t give you much stock at the promo and refreshers are terrible because they align your comp to mid range assuming stock growth 20-30% per year.
