I am considering Masters as the way to get Visa and interviews at FAANG.
Not worth it considering the uncertainty of visa and that SJSU is not a favored college for recruitment among faang. If you have other visa options like H4 ead I wouldn’t go the F1 opt route. SJSU would be my last option
Why is it so? 2 of my friends got offer from Google after completing their Ms from sjsu.
So? 2 of my friends went to back to India after searching for jobs for nearly a year.
None of big companies go to SJSU for career fairs. I would avoid going there
Does that mean SJSU students don’t get into big companies . Get your facts right . Linkedin has lot of great SJSU alums in top roles . Eg. Erica Lockheimer So don’t brag about college rankings and career fairs . It’s all about what you learn in that course and how good you are in programming.
before you try to criticize someone try to understand what was the reply. i never said there are not SJSU alumni’s at LI. I am saying LI or other big companies don’t go to SJSU career fair. Lot of alumni’s have gone to other companies after graduating and once you have experience, LI or other big ones reach out to you for interviews.
Depends on where u r located currently and what's ur financial situation.
I'm from India. Financial Situation is pretty good, no dependents.
If you can do it without going into debt. Do it. Can u get into better universities? If so I'd suggest you do. The education you will get in a master's program at a good uni can change ur life. Why do u only want to go to sjsu? Is it cuz geographical proximity to fang?
There are many other state schools in other states with low tuition and better reputation.
SJSU is very good options considering opportunities in Bay Area. Try to get internship extend and convert to full time. You are good 👍🏻
Would recommend Software Engineering in SJSU more than CS. CS has a good program, good profs and the class size is only 20, which is great! But SE gives more exposure to different technologies and gives practical experience rather than just theory.
I did BSCS, and MS SWE, i have the reverse experience, CS is more heavy on math and algorithms, whereas swe is more about tooling, framework, etc... I don't regret doing cs then swe.
I would recommend SE course over CS if you are interested in more projects. I am an SJSU alum , would highly recommend you to take 2 heavy courses every semester to maximize your learnings . Job wise it’s all about leetcode and I have seen lot of my friends work at FANG.

More than worth it. Less tuition fees. If anything bad happens to opt you won’t regret as you will be spending hardly 15k max. Start leetcoding from first sem.
SJSU is literally a spouse university. Chances of getting the F1 visa are getting less every year. OP has not even applied for a visa you are preaching about LC.
How sure are you of getting visa at any other university ? It’s stupid to shell out 70k for studying masters to just get a visa for working in US. SJSU provides same with so much lesser money. Why not apply there. OP will have his friends in us companies. He can ask for referral. And about LC preaching dafuq you are a CMU grad or SJSU everybody has to grind
