I got approved for H1B consular notification. I am currently on OPT which expires on October 22, 2018. With the consular approval can I apply for an OPT extension (Mine was a STEM course) and then go get H1B activated in November - December when I can travel? If so, would that cause any problem in getting the H1b stamp later on?,
And yes, you'll have to apply for OPT STEM. Otherwise you'll fall out of status after Oct 22nd.
What's the difference between those two?
Change of Status - H1B status starts automatically on Oct 1st. Consular Notification - It is start after the Visa interview when you get your stamping. There seem to be pros and cons for both.
So if someone (currently on STEM OPT) with consular notification needs to switch job they cannot do it before visa interview or new company can still transfer H-1b?

Curious on why you picked the consular notification instead of regular change of status?
