Did anyone travel via Lufthansa with valid I-797 but expired stamp? Did they allow you to board the flight? I have a flight from Seattle to Mumbai via Frankfurt.
Are u coming into US? U wont be allowed to enter without visa.
OP probably means traveling away from US via Europe
No. Not allowed. Just had my friend rebook their journey. Try KLM instead if you're hell bent on traveling via EU
Need a valid non-expired visa, i797 is not enough. They accept valid visas from countries like canada also.
I posted earlier that you dont need transit visa but I called the German embassy today at +12126109700. They confirmed that Indians with expired h1b stamp definitely need the transit visa irrespective of the number of hours at the airport. Unless the stamp expired within 24 hours. Which will hardly be the case. https://www.germany.info/blob/917514/29c468eca75052c9c91a8635284f6340/airport-transit-country-list-data.pdf
How does the stamp matter if you're going to India? Isn't the stamp checked only for flights destined to the US?
It is stupid but it is true atleast that is what the embassy said cz Germany is some elite place where u can only change flights if usa 🇺🇸 approves and the worst part us lufthansa website doesn't say a word about it
Yeah, the more I search, the most conflicting information I find. It seems like a risky idea to fly to India via Europe if you have an expired visa.
