Hi! Recently I had an on-site interview at Google and my recruiter told me I did it good, but before continuing with the process he needs to know the compensation I'm looking for. Personally I think I did it good but not wonderful. I'm a developer with 10 yoe and my forte is iOS with 7 yoe, but I've only worked for big tech companies for the last 2 years (just Amazon, SDE II L5). What compensation do you recommend me to aim for? I'm looking for roles in SF Bay area (preferably) and Seattle. Applying for: L4, SWE III ,Mobile developer (iOS) My current compensation in Seattle: Salary: 148k SB: 48k Stock: 131k over 4 years
Take Google man. Amazon is shit. It’s going to be more than 200k. I guess around 230-250k at L4. With competing offers it can go upto 300k.
Never give an answer to this. They will move forward anyway despite what the recruiter says. They are just trying to weaken your negotiating position. Be sure to have a competing offer, preferably from Facebook.
Hi, thanks for your comment. How the recruiter presented the situation was that I did good during interviews, but is not sure I'll get an offer. Because of that, I'd need a team supporting me. Are you saying that I can consider I passed the interviews and possibly I'll get an offer? In the past, when I interviewed for Amazon and Facebook I got the on-site results almost immediately, but Google is making everything longer.
What I’m saying is that you do not need to disclose expected salary in order to get an offer or get a team match. The recruiter saying that you do is an attempt to weaken your negotiating position when you get an offer. Go do some reading online about salary negotiation. This is a very common situation and there are common things you can say to bypass this.
L4 can be 300k if you negotiate well
300k tc or base?
Do you know what level they were interviewing you for? I imagine L5, but if you get hit with a downlevel then that will change things. Do you have any competing offers?
99% chance for L4 unless OP crushed system design part
Hi, before the interview I was told it was going to be L4
