SWE Intern - Renege Square for Amazon?

I signed an offer from Square a few months back, but now I'm having second thoughts as I got an offer from Amazon (SDE intern). Which one would be the better for fulltime job search? This will be my last internship and would love some advice. Square: 6.5k CAD (~5k)/month - Remote in Canada Amazon: 9.1k + housing stipend/month - probably Seattle #tech #swe

You’re just starting your career; best not to start off by burning bridges so soon. Square is great for what you need: Growth and creds.

May the bridges I burn light the way

That’s a good point, so would you say Square is better than Amazon in terms of future career prospects?

Oof that’s tough. I feel like Square carries more weight on a resume, but that Amazon money is pretty hard to pass up. Either way, I think you’d be fine for full-time search.

What makes you think SQ carries more weight? Also, I think internship money is usually insignificant in grand scheme. They could always apply to Amazon for full-time after graduation if they want Amazon pay.

The Amazon hiring bar has gotten so much lower. There are interns/new grads who just do a 30 min final interview and get accepted. I feel like half my class graduated with Amazon internships. At the very least, I presume having Square would let you stand out from the heaps of Amazonians?

Internship money barely matters if you're just gonna be working for 3 months.

I guess I was also considering that for fulltime, Square has pretty bad pay in Canada

Amazon would likely give you a return offer when you graduate. Assuming Square would as well, if you would prefer working at one or the other after graduation, choose on the basis of that. If you intend to work elsewhere, I'd go with whichever results in more money after living expenses. If the money is the same, I'd go with whichever company rounded out my resume better (since you imply you have had previous internships).
