SWE Travelling around US from Aus

Hi, I'm currently a SWE/DevOps engineer in Australia. I am travelling to the US (mainly California) for a month but will be remote working for a good portion of the trip. As part of this trip I wanted to suss out the vibe for working in US in the future. As a SWE I've always been curious about Silicon Valley. Questions: 1. What would be the best way for me to network and make the most out of the time I'm in Silicon Valley & other major cities. Any good event suggestions etc.? 2. Any suggestions on where to remote work locations? I was initially thinking cafes but my work hours will be 4PM-Midnight to work with Australian hours. Maybe WeWork 3. I was thinking of staying in hostels to meet people but maybe not ideal if I need to remote work? (I'm no longer at Accenture FYI - just haven't updated ) #SWE #Network #DevOps #Travel #SilconValley

Bay Area is one of the most depressing places in the world. Try nyc or even Austin

Interesting what makes you say that? I've heard it has changed in the last few years. Any recommendations for the above questions for NYC or Austin? I may try change the itinerary to get some time there

You can’t go wrong with nyc, either live in manhattan or Williamsburg Astoria. There is just too much to do, the whole city is alive 24x7. It will be cold though, so carry plenty of jackets.
