FANG = Facebook, Albertsons (Apple), Netflix, Google Would like to hear what the transition was like and how your TC and WLB changed. Mostly interested in T1 firms like Jump, HRT, JS, PDT, Citadel TC: $405k 3 YOE
how 405 and 3 years at google? Or is that new tc
I have a few friends. If you want to make a transition, I would recommend to do it as early as possible. Definitely before manager/senior. If you do it at senior or later it might delay career trajectory. Apart from that there's not much difference, you get paid to write code and manage relationships. Some teams (closer to revenue) might be more respected but that's applicable in FAANG too. WLB would more like fb/Amazon and less like Google/apple. I would say Netflix is the closest match
So we have finally dropped Amazon from FAANG lel
Hey at least we’re not building surveillance CSAM in our products!
I wouldn't trade my WLB and great pay, for way worst WLB and not much pay bump. My friend is at Citadel. He's constantly working (along with his team) that his average pay/hour is almost half of mine.
Sounds terrible unless you're getting $700k+
I'm at 500k TC with 20 hr/week, 6 yoe. He started with me (same 6 yoe) and at 900k TC with like 80hr/week
Would be more interesting to hear the comparison between {JS, Jump, HRT, PDT} and FANG…

People who like Modi, are you okay with your country’s leader using words like “infiltrators” for a community?
there's a lot of citadel --> FB, I don't see much in reverse due to the tougher pressure and wlb
Could it be the size of the two though? Citadels pretty small, and Facebook is pretty big, so it makes sense you’d see more from small -> big just based off numbers :/
If the two firms' sizes are stable (but different), why would the # going in either direction depend on their relative sizes?
