I constantly hear stories about how our friends at McGladrey, GT and BDO making more money for less hours. Is that true?
I just left B4 and money is not much better.
Can you share the difference in %?
I received a 6% pay increase. Yes I know this isn't much, but money was not even a factor when making my decision.
I'm in the Boston area if that helps too.
There are head hunters who do salary surveys in each market. Probably better information there than the one off experience here. Big Four charge significantly higher rates than second tier, their partners earn significantly more than second tier. I would be surprised if big 4 below next tier. That said, hours may be higher in big 4.
Just got an offer from Crowe Horwath,a promotion, and it's only a 3% bump compared to what I make now. I thought Jumping firms got you a bigger bump? if I stay and get promoted here I'd get way more. but I'm already underpaid!
Dont take it. Just wait or try to get a higher offer.
If you get promoted within big 4 you shd get at least 10-15 % from SA -> Mgr
But then I'd have to wait till August to get the title. I'm not sure
I think it's cause mid tier firms pay overtime? Can someone from a mid tier verify?
No overtime here. I have a friend at GT and he doesn't get OT either.
We didn't get overtime at any firm I've worked at. They always claim at least 200 hours of OT is built into salaries.
They usually make more until senior level
Agreed. At entry through manager they make slightly more. Maybe even at senior manager. But partners at big 4 make way more.
