Hello All, Below are my offers from two different companies Charlotte Base - 117 K Bonus - 10% Austin/Dallas - Remote Base- 115k Bonus - 12% Current TC in Sanjose Base- 140 K Bonus - 15% After comparing the offers i can see 1) Texas has no state tax 2) Property tax in Austin is more compared to charlotte 3) Austin has more opportunities but looking at current scenario most companies will offer remote working option available . I am single parent and plan is to buy a house (300k -350k) after moving to the new location in a year in good school district for kids and stick for next 8-10 years until kids schooling is done Primary reason for moving is cost of living and housing in bayarea is very high and savings are not much . Any suggestions appreciated . #compensation #housing

Dallas if you have young kids. Otherwise, Austin is great for colleges.

Dallas area is cheaper to live. Austin only has one good college and that's UT Austin. If your GPA isn't at least a 3.8 you not getting in. For the size of the area, they lack college-level education. Austin taxes are higher. 300k for a House in this area with a good school system will be harder to find. When you do decide to move from Dallas to Austin for that new opportunity it is far enough for a relocation package and easy enough to do it yourself to save $$ I live in Austin and love it. I liked Dallas also when I lived there. DFW area has many more colleges to choose from
