They make more money than you.
Eh sales engineers donβt make that crazy of salaries
They donβt. But they make more money than someone at βnew.β The good ones are doing 300-400k.
In consulting, this involves building POCs for whale sales leads, doing arch assessments, running short workshops, delivering limited amounts of engineer training, helping your sales team write up a contract that can actually be delivered with some profit. Itβs a pretty good gig. And the commissions can be great if youβre good at it.
Yeah, itβs a super fun gig and somewhat hard to get into. Kudos to that person
Also way more job security than SWE these days.
Sales engineering not hard for swe to get into?
- asked the software engineer fka programmer, as if title inflation was a new phenomenon
Programmer? Nah. Computer science engineer Aka Mooreβs law breaker, aka truly humble under god
everyone is in sales, some knowingly some unknowingly. itβs a field not for everyone, the upside is unlimited and if you play it right can have a rewarding career, money and job satisfaction wise.
