Curious what kind of numbers other sales/solutions engineers in the area are seeing. ~$200k OTE, been doing this about five years.
Bay area is 160 base + 25% variable or around 210k. You aren't far off. I hope you have stock/ESPP on top of that.
We do get options but I did not include it in my number.
What is a "solutions engineer"?
Same shit as a sales engineer or solutions architect. Try and keep up.

How did you get into se role? Considering a switch
Really easy to get interviews if you’re coming from SWE. Just have to have presentation and empathy skills. Interviews aren’t as technical, but very focused on behavioral.
Did u come from a SWE background? How do u like the job?
Probably on the lower side...u can go up in salary pretty fast...join a company which pays commission as well..I would say target 250+ easily
How does your commission work?
OTE = on target earnings which includes a commission component. But our split is 85/15 rather than the standard 75/25 so not as much upside with strong numbers.
