Salesforce - rejection on resume level, really?

Feb 6, 2019 26 Comments

Applied at Salesforce jobs website (workday) to two positions with multiple locations: "Software Architect" and "SDE All Levels". They sucked in job history from Linked plus uploaded my resume.

After few days got generic rejection "we’ve decided to move forward with other candidates".

My resume is pretty solid and I'm currently preparing for onsite in FAANG company, so I didn't expect that reaction.

I mean Salesforce wasn't my top choice, it's no biggie, just curios why? Anything special they looking for?

You are doing it wrong. If you are currently interviewing with FAANG, all you need to do is drop in a message to any technical recruiter at Salesforce with something like,

“Hey just wanted to reach out to you to see if there are some exciting opportunities at Salesforce. I am currently interviewing with companies that operate at scale like Amazon and Apple but Salesforce is one of the companies at the top of my list.”

Not verbatim, but something on those lines after rambling about your past experience.

    Easy peasy.

Bad advice! They will run at the name of FAANG! Saying from personal experience!

After I said I got an offer they went radio silent. My guess is they were planning to downlevel me or get at a bargain offer initially 😃

Perhaps they didn’t see what whoever offered you something did. Maybe it’s just you.

You could be right. Our hiring is atrocious. It’s all tied to the team so positions come and go. We don’t have any thing that resembles a continuous pipeline for engineering. Makes me sad how dysfunctional we are.

Has happened to me at other companies. I didn't make a big deal of it. I also didn't take a privileged view that they could not afford me.

Im not salty, its just opportunity to learn something new. May be they expect certain buzz words on the resume and I would like to know for the future.

Could have been beaten by an internal transfer or someone that was a refer.

They did the same to me. I agree with you it wasn’t a big loss by any means given that Microsoft is a way bigger dog in the world than Salesforce.

But I was still irritated they rejected without actually knowing anything about me, I also have 10 years of DIRECT experience.

I wonder if they know they can’t afford us?
