So is Seattle officially HQ2 for Salesforce?
Salesforce (NYSE: CRM) already has around 1,000 employees in Washington state and a Bellevue office less than five miles from Tableau’s planned Kirkland office. Benioff said he has hoped to expand in the region for a while, and he plans to grow Salesforce and Tableau Seattle-area presence.

Tableau plans to open its new 100,000-square-foot office in the Kirkland Urban development this summer. Tableau just moved its headquarters last year when it expanded into a 110,000-square-foot building in Fremont near its former headquarters. Tableau had 4,286 employees worldwide at the end of March, up from 3,663 a year prior. In 2018, Tableau had 2,130 employees in Washington, with a large majority in the Puget Sound region.
