I am starting to suspect that it doesn’t really matter how you performed against your V2MOM or whatever goals in terms of velocity, etc. what I mean is everyone basically gets 2-4% increase in salary. Is my hunch right?
Performers differentiated by stock grants mostly.
The thing with stock grants is that it is another 4+ years to realize the full gain. Anyway I think the word “merit” in the annual review ought to just be replaced with something like “nominal inflation adjustment”
