Are CEOs being intentionally hard and ass so that people quit in a rage and headcount goes down without severance? Why is Marc pulling a Elon? @salesforce folks can you confirm if this really happened or is it media hype https://www.businessinsider.com/marc-benioff-joked-did-i-miss-something-firing-8000-staff-2023-1#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=16738841712006&csi=0&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.businessinsider.com%2Fmarc-benioff-joked-did-i-miss-something-firing-8000-staff-2023-1

I remember reading this years ago. What a douche. And the Salesforce Tower in SF resembles a shaft. He’s such a tool.
It’s all being so overblown
Not really. He did apologize later though, but he came across like a giant tool.
I think it was stupid to say something or be jovial about being late to a an extremely crucial townhall for everyone. More crucial than his gazillion costing dreamforce
What an a..hole, puppet of Ellison!
He is on Elon mode
This was just the start of it. This attitude went on for like two hours. This was the worst meeting I have ever been in. Tone-deaf.
🤮 really? Why do they suddenly assume like they solely built it?
no one said anything? like “yo bro chill out, what are you smoking?”
Marc has been an excellent CEO and really good to his employees. This is an anomaly. I suspect he was out of touch and wasn't ready to be a sole CEO after Brett Taylor left.
Excellent? He can’t even spell Mark right.
What a naive thing to say? You really don't understand how capitalism works. Marc fucked up! He took on the unnecessary costs during those already expensive acquisitions and hired too. Ideally it's the interest expense that's biting our books the most and all that dead weight come in. He should not have gone rogue spending but such are billionaires
Well said 😂😂
He was off partying while BT was co CEO, so i guess he didn't realize that this was a layoff call and not a sales call. Exceedingly strange to see him show up 20 minutes late, joke about the delay, and then crack more jokes while he talked about how we had a great quarter and can have a great one ahead of us. All that instead of actually answering any of the layoff questions (which they slightly got to about 1 and a half hours after the meeting was supposed to start)
It was such a waste of time. People from all over the globe, various timezones, many late night from Asia and Australia joined in. Should they stay up to listen to him or be able to perform to save their job tomorrow? No respect. Just a year old and sorry to say this ohana thing is BS. If there was so much empathy, you should have moved cautiously rather going rogue on spending.
And that was one and a half hours into a one hour call. Lol.
I think it’s blown out of proportion. He sure seems unprepared for the occasion. Truth be told I think he lost touch with reality in all the growth Salesforce had in the pas few years. This was a fall he was not prepared for and he had no one really to lean on. Almost all the new leaders he had hired abandoned ship and he had to lean on to his old friend. I don’t know how good I personally would respond in such a situation. I would rather look at where Salesforce goes from here. Can he rebound ? I personally has seen few layoffs and almost all of them were worser than the one I saw at Salesforce. I think people are way more privileged in SF.
So what you are saying is he is good leader only when things go well? That’s such a great endorsement, we need more people like him!!
The Salesforce folks were literally thanking him him his the slack thread for how graciously he handled the layoffs. Super cringe. 🥾 👅
Being nice and empathetic costs nothing. Very poor form Marc.
