Salesforce has announced this today https://techcrunch.com/2019/11/19/salesforce-customer-360-aims-to-bring-all-customer-data-into-a-single-view/ How do you think companies like Segment/ Adobe(competitors listed in the article above) will get impacted by this move. Is this a good space for Salesforce to explore or a crowded adjacency that Salesforce is smelling an opportunity ?? Thoughts?
Coming from the CDP space I feel that Salesforce is already poor at integrating their own acquisitions into their stack/connecting disparate systems. I think this is an overall great indication for the validity of the CDP space; while Salesforce will successfully sell their product, the product itself won’t be as beneficial as if an organization used another player in the CDP space and integrated with downstream tools from there.

Everything seems great with this guy, except basic attraction. What to do? My friends say it’s no big deal
I think Adobe can do the same things and more and not use it as a method to lock you into Salesforce CRM.
True that. It takes a lot of efforts and Investnent to educate market in this area, do you think Adobe as a company will invest to educate clients on CDI/CDP??
Yes. Major focus going forward. CDP, real time custom journey creation, real time segmentation, all built on the open data model that Adobe, Microsoft and SAP are all bought in on. It is a shame Salesforce chose to create yet another proprietary data model rather than doing what is best for the customer and joining the Open Data Initiative.
