I have the following offers from Google and Salesforce. I'd really appreciate any help in evaluating them. Leaning towards Google right now. Salesforce offer: 185k bonus + 200k equity (25% per year) + 40K joining + 15% bonus TC at the end of first year: ~302K, 260K per year after that Role: ML Platform engineer (SMTS) Location: Bellevue WA Google Offer: 158k base + 281k equity (vesting schedule: 36/28/20/16) + 18k sign on + 15% bonus TC at the end of first year: 300k, 260k per year after that but I'm hoping refreshers can slowly start taking it to 300K again. Role: SWE L4 in GCP FDO engineering Location: Kirkland WA Current TC: 200K + 🍌 (L5) YOE: 4 (2 in the US) + MS
Take google but try and have them match the offer.
They have already almost matched it. 300k vs 302k
Google is a no brainer. Tier 1 vs tier 4 tech.
Salesforce is a dead end. No refreshers and crappy tech stack. Don't get fooled by fancy words like Falcon or Ohana.
Interesting. The problem that the Salesforce team was trying to solve sounded pretty interesting and challenging. Nevertheless, the whole recruitment experience from Salesforce was very positive
What problem? There are high-functioning teams doing interesting and good work, but those are rare, and you have to know someone and be known by someone to get on those teams. Interesting and challenging problems mean off-core, I assume. It'll mean you'll have 20 fingers in the pie from all different directions. #1 rule of salesforce: make it as complicated as you possibly can.
Join google. Salesforce is a great company but the work might not be challenging.
Why is this even a poll? Google all the way.
Seriously fuck Salesforce. SF doesn't have regular refreshers, L4 is a good match for SMTS. This is not even a question. Go with the big G.
What about if it was smts vs google L3 offer
Well, L3 is new grad no? Sure SF levels are more granular but SMTS is two higher than AMTS... Then again if the numbers are close, take L3. Less expectations from you, easier to get a promotion.
Lol Google without question
As everyone has mentioned- salesforce does not have regular refreshers. At the level you are coming at a best case scenario would be a smaller grant every other year. Google TC will win out over a few years. Googles in office perks are way better as well. Only edge Salesforce has I would say is on parental leave- if you plan on having kids soon that would be the only plus over Google. When did Google start doing odd vesting schedules?
Google without question. On top of that FDO is a great team to learn and grow in.
