How are salespeople compensated? A % of their deals?
The base salary plus commission. Commission is %age of the deals closed. 100% commission is received when 100% of quota is hit. Then the accelerator kicks in which is almost always between 10-20% in Enterprise software companies.
What are common base & commission amounts per year?
Depends on experience. For an enterprise rep (8-10 yrs +), it could be anywhere between $120K/$120k - $150K/$150k
That’s low. For Fortune 500 advertising sales, base would be closer to $200K - 50% base / 50% commission
