Samsara

Haven’t read a lot here on Samsara. How are things going there? Interview next week, trying to evaluate if it’s worth it. Tc: 325k

I see that review about no diversity and inclusion and allies crap so it’s probably good place to work right now

I mean anythings better than USAA

USAA wins “Samsara vs USAA at same TC”

What role are you interviewing for?

Samsara iNdh6r Apr 9, 2022

I would ignore anything you read online from pre IPO days. Things like comp and WLB and hiring has changed since IPO in 2021. We are hiring lots of senior folks (staff, directors, VPs) right now to help define and shape our culture and vision for the next phase of growth. Levels.fyi is also not accurate for comp.

Newsflash from an insider: It is a dumpster fire transition. All departments are feeling exhausted and under-appreciated with the influx of these new “experts.” Lots of unwillingness to listen or learn on the part of these newbies, who just forge ahead with all smiles and money to burn. Also lots of nepotism going on too— salesforce, awc, servicenow execs all hiring their besties. Very low morale, huge exodus of old employees who actually helped build the company. Consensus from everyone is too many vp’s who like to point and command, not enough people rolling up their sleeves to jump in and help. The culture is deteriorating fast. The magic was always from the people who work there, but Samsara needs to address this transition or they are going to become just another corporate hellhole.

I would describe it more like growing pains. There are famously different phases of companies as they mature and go from 0-1 and then grow from 1-n, and it’s natural that people who enjoy the smaller environment will rotate out. There will always be people who say culture is going to shit in every company that has to adapt to change. I’m actually glad to see that the company is capable of changing.

I interviewed . Went well. My biggest concern is “what is the product vision” Saturated space, and with ford and Verizon getting into the game, the financials are pretty poor ( maybe a 3 year cash runway?) not sure I can leave the stability I have . Everyone I met was great though . Tough choice seems like the people are great but the uphill battle is a tough one .

Ford and verizon have been in the game. Samsara is the most comprehensive offering and has a great future. I love being here! Message if I can help further :)
