Hi, I have recently got the Samsung offer (200k - 140K/15%/40K). I haven't accepted it yet. Intel started filing my AOS application due to EB3 Priority date changed to Jan 2015. I am really confused about how to respond to the Samsung offer. I don't want to miss this opportunity for the filing period at the same time I am not sure if due to the high volume of applications what happens to my I 485 application. I am concern that if I deny the offer and if my application did not go through fine I will be left with nothing. On the other way, I am not sure how long will it take to get the I 485 application status to come back, and if I accept the offer first and deny it later it then maybe the company might put me on the blacklist since it takes a long time to know the application status Can people in blind help me out here and please select the appropriate option. Really appreciate any comments or suggestions My TC: 140K #intel #samsung #hardware #compensation #apple #eb3 #offer #immigration#interview #semiconductor #hardware #microsoft #eb1 #greencard #I485#samsung
What are you doing at Intel for 140k?
PD ( portland)
I am exsamsung and it sucks. You will never regret this decision. Which team in samsung?
GPU SARC
Which group were you in samsung ?
Always leave Intel.
Why ?
Just look around at the kind of people getting promoted in Intel Portland.
What is your PD?
Nov 2014
Then it honestly does not matter. Take a chance on the 6 month and even if you join before 180 days then also its fine
Intel to Samsung is a massive downgrade. Everyone I know who joined Samsung unequivocally said Samsung sucks big time. Don’t do it.
What do you think about intel to TSMC ?
I am a software guy. So not much knowledge about TSMC. But know multiple friends who joined Samsung and hated it there. The culture is really not good. Frankly one of them joined only because he had to move out of Intel and had no other option at that moment. He moved out quickly as soon as he got another job. I didn’t hear anything bad about TSMC.
Samsung doesn’t offer RSU grant so I assume the 40K is sign on. If so you shouldn’t use it for TC calculation. Your TC is technically 140K + 22K so you should stat put at intel rather than moving to a high cost city and when you can downgrade to EB3. Not worth the move
Samsung gave 40k as sign on first year and then 40k second year and another 40k third year as retention bonus ... so I added 40k in to TC ... still dont know if this the right way for TC cal .
That’s nice, I din’t know they did sign on over 3 years. The TC is good for austin but I still feel staying a little longer for the EAD is worth it. Good luck!
Won't recommend Samsung, worse and more politics than Intel, can you imagine that??? No one that I know at Samsung can stay longer than 1 year. And this is bay area? 200k at bay is probably the same as 140k in PDX, so you ain't getting a raise.
200k is in Texas austin .
Intel politics is by far the worst out of any company I have worked at... which includes Samsung.
Op is joining Samsung Austin, not bay area. People should google before answering. Are you in chip design or process? If design, Apple and Nvidia are the only two companies you should consider. Wait at Intel and look for better opportunities.
Yeah Joining austin ... I wanted to try at these comapanies next ... but has to wait for 6 months now for I 485
Here’s purely my take . If you really like the Samsung offer and can sacrifice ead for it, take it . If you feel ead is more important than work / career path stay at intel. Telling Samsung might not hurt but I don’t know which company likes to hire people who are more interested in things other than the job being offered . So if I were Samsung I’ll reject you soon as you inform me your ead problem. Also you have to stay with intel for 180 days AFTER the 485 is filed in order to be able to port it. Not sure anyone will wait for that long
Yeah I kind of agree but I am trying to weigh in both the options and tilting more towards ead as of now .. dont know if I am thinking it straight .
If you are confident you can crack this job again in future, let it go and get your ead now
