https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.news18.com/amp/news/tech/work-from-home-model-cannot-be-continued-on-a-permanent-basis-satya-nadella-2624913.html I have never favored WFH. What about you guys ? #wfh #microsoft #covid-19 #coronavirus
Flexible work policy!
The binary of all work from home or all work in the office is a false choice. Take door #3 Monty
Imagine a world in which employers embrace flexibility. This guy’s a turd imo who really has no qualifications to speak intelligently on the possible ‘mental health implications’ of consensual wfh of professional adults (as if conclusions can even be drawn across the breadth of tech employees). Some people can thrive wfh, some thrive in office, some can do both, some can do one or the other at different points in their career. To me this guy’s opinion reads like any other over simplified boomer tech dad opinion, afraid of change and angry at the entitled kids he perceives on his lawn
Maybe they can add free food in their offices to promote better mental health
Anyone remember Marissa Mayer, that hot shot CEO who knew everything and was convinced that everyone must work at the offices?
Where is she these days? Didn’t she buy a teenager’s news feeder start-up for $30M
I don't know. What was the reason she got famous?
Thank god. If not, then WeWork is toast 😂
Micromanagers and ordinary leaders who can't set good goals or trust adults to do their jobs, need 100% office presence.
+1
WFH is going to happen in mass long term quite possibly forever regardless of what he or anyone else thinks. The people that hate WFH have a bias opinion right now as this is WFH during a quarintine, not normal circumstances. This is a classical example of old world thinking resisting a change. No different then people from the coal industry preaching why we should not be progressing towards clean energy.
U need to be in the office sometimes.i would just make it very flexible, 50% WFH. Extended periods of WFH accepted. But sometimes you definitely need to be in person
Yea maybe once or twice a year in person for maybe a week. The rest can be done remote from anywhere.
Been working 100% remote (several timezones from the closest dev office) for several years. Pretty sick and tired of it. WFH several times a week, sure. 100%? Nah.
You probably have not taken advantage of remote work if you are not into it. Have you traveled while working? Is your work flexible?

Horrible Netflix ML interview experience
Agreed. What should be permanent is a flexible policy like a 50/50 balance since there are both pros and cons for both.
Agreed. Amazon has a lot of room for improvement after this pandemic. For one, they can increase the allowed weekly WFH company-wide, and maybe give a more flexible PTO policy and encourage managers to not be as anal when team members take PTO.
100%. Working from home exclusively puts a massive burden on living space since some needs to be sacrificed for work without proper compensation. Until living spaces evolve, work should be flexible
