I am an IC at Amazon. But I can tell you that people do what they are incentivized to do. The same person from Amazon with different incentives would behave differently. Creating bias based on someone’s work history at Amazon is shortsighted.
The system is biased to create fear and zero teamwork. PIPing culture makes people not help colleagues or document things because they are only punished for doing so with a PIP culture, not rewarded. GE did the PIP and stacked ranked firing system before and it turned out horribly for them. There are articles and I believe even business studies about the failure.
It only works for companies with a high hiring bar
You are salty man … did you get piped ?
This is from an Amazon worker.
And you still work there 😝. Hats off to you
GM 10 years late as usual
I loved working at amazon, learned a lot, and made some great and smart lifelong friends there. If it weren’t for the fact that they too are suffering layoffs and freeze, I’d risk the pip factory to return
Ok now sit down
