Spin, Limebike, Bird, Jump... Which of these companies is going to win? Who's worth joining?

Jump bike is amazing. But they have to wait a looooooong time before they’re allowed to increase the number of bikes around in SF. By then the usual political forces will find some way to ban them or make them useless. Same with the scooters.
New to SF.... Why do political forces hate these scooters?
There’s a default view that anything done by tech companies is evil and needs to be constrained. Uber/Lyft are evil and need to be regulated/taxed, airbnb is a major root cause behind the housing crisis, Google/FB employees are killing the city with their buses. The regular pedal bikeshare (Ford GoBike) is attacked as a “tool of gentrification” and in some cases the brakes were cut on them. In this case, they will probably explain it by 1) the Uber bikes are taking up bike racks (even though they built 2x what they are using) and 2) the scooters are a nuisance because they are left in the middle of the sidewalks (disregard the trash and homeless camps right next to them...). Some will be banned, others will need to accept restrictions making them much less useful.
isn't it really easy to just take apart a scooter, remove the GPS, and take it home? this feels like a business model that is bound to fail
Depends on the trust level of society. Just need to not end up with way too many scooters and this https://www.theatlantic.com/photo/2018/03/bike-share-oversupply-in-china-huge-piles-of-abandoned-and-broken-bicycles/556268/
I took a jump bike the other day. Pretty fun; much more pedal assist than I thought it would have
