Moving to Seattle in Feb, looking for a conventional(not open) 1b/1br apartments. Will be working @ Russel Investments, The way I see it, I can find something for 2200/2300 near work + 300 parking and have no commute basically or something for 1900-2000 further out (SLU/Belltown) + 200 for parking and add in 100 or so for 15-20 min commute each way. Which would you choose? Any suggestions on apartments? I’d really like to keep rent + parking + util below 2500 #seattle TC: 182k
15-20 min commute is not that bad and you can use that as personal/me time (one of my coworkers does that with audio books/podcasts, he says it's helpful). What was your process for searching for apts? I personally like to look at the area first on Google Maps and map out (pun not intended) apts and then visit thier website to see more about it (if the Google Reviews are good enough/exists). I'd go the save money route unless you really prioritize more social options in your living lifestyle.
That's not a pun.
I just went on random apps and went with whatever I found tbh lol
SLU/Belltown aren’t that far from the RIC. You could easily walk to work from either location. Besides, most companies pay for your bus card or give you an allowance. I would also check out cap hill. The link station is right across from RIC and goes to Cap Hill.
Will do! Are there more stores around in SLU/Belltown & Cap Hill? The main reason I’m leaning away from living in downtown is that I’d need to take transit or drive to places for every single thing. E.g. forget a gallon of milk, gotta make a whole journey elsewhere
You don’t need a car living in Cap Hill. There are plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, shops, bars, etc. More so than Belltown and SLU. And you’re just up the hill from downtown.
The Wave apartments, right next to Century Link Field. Ultra modern. Great building. Fantastic area with super high walk score (close to Link, bus lines).
The Lyric! One block away from the Capitol Hill light rail station. Two stops and you’re right outside RIC. my commute’s so easy and the apartment building is super close to grocery stores, bars, etc. I rent a studio for ~$2k. PM me if you’re interested- I believe I get a referral bonus if you sign a lease :)
I ended up getting a 1 bedroom at Harbor Steps for 2100 haha
I’ll miss the closeness of things a bit but at least no commute to work
OP, mind if I PM?
