Seattle Apartments Help

Based on my work location and commute preferences, I’ve identified a few neighborhoods. Need some help ranking them by safety and things to do nearby. Belltown Pike pine First hill Capitol Hill Pioneer square Yesler terrace Maybe cascade, south lake union and uptown Preferred rent < $2K #Seattle #apartments #rent #studio

I would say pioneer square and Yesler terrace are no goes. Assuming you’re young and want to go out: Cap hill First Hill Belltown SLU is convenient but a big Amazon bubble. Terrible night life

Got it, thanks! Yup, young. Not a hardcore party person but definitely like hanging out, trying out restaurants and other social activities.

First hill is pretty good but there are a lot of hospitals in this neighborhood so you won’t be able to sleep at night with windows open (ambulances). Cap hill is hella expensive. Bell town is filthy and equally expensive

Cap hill the safest with best night life out of your list

Uber hTaBUla OP Jul 15, 2021

Anything else close by that I should consider? Asking as you said out of my list

Ballard is safer and has nicer bars but location isn’t as convenient to the freeways

Cap hill or first hill.

Uber hTaBUla OP Jul 15, 2021

Any pros cons for either ?

Uber azHY25 Jul 15, 2021

None really. Cap hill definitely tho if your budget allows. You don’t have to be a party person. The convenience to walk <5-10 mins to great restaurants + grocery stores is unparalleled anywhere in Seattle. You could walk from first hill to cap hill as well, but it’s a bit of a walk and a hill one way.

If you aren’t a crazy party person then I would skip Cap hill unless you really want the true city vibe. Otherwise Ballard and Fremont then are awesome alternatives. Easy bus routes, good restaurants and bars, more chill vibe for night life.

Uber hTaBUla OP Jul 15, 2021

Ballard and Fremont seem kinda far. Don’t wanna buy a car unless I absolutely need to. Would relying exclusively on public transport work for these places ?

JetClosing IXlT57 Jul 15, 2021

Fremont is great for taking public transportation to work in downtown area. You can also bike really easy as especially if you go with an ebike.

First Hill near Swedish but you will hear sirens. Closer to Pine the better.

I would add Queen Ann to the list. I lived there for a year because I enjoyed all the landmarks :) after a year it will wear off some and you can move elsewhere

Uber hTaBUla OP Jul 15, 2021

Thanks, will consider it too.

First Hill or on the edge of Cap Hill and Central District is pretty great.

Cap Hill or Freemont! Both have things to do, decent food, decent nightlight and an easy commute. Cap Hill is more part vibes, Freemont is more hippy vibes. Both are safe + clean

Bike to work in 5-10 minutes from First Hill or Capitol Hill. The return trip is rough if you’re not in shape and/or the bike does not have easy gearing for climbing, but you can walk the bike or put it on the front of a bus. Or get an e-bike. Or grind it out until you’re in shape.
