Seattle vs Denver

Currently in Denver, but chatting with a few companies. Most are wfh friendly, but one is based in Seattle and expects a few days in the office a week. We bought our home in Denver 11 months ago and will probably break even if we were to sell. I work in application security if it matters. We have lived in Seattle previously before we started a family and ended up leaving as we thought we could never of afforded a nice house there and only had a few good friends. If we were to go back we would look to live on the west side of the sound. Bainbridge or Kingston. Things like schools and maybe childcare are things we care about (we have family in the area that may be able to help). If anyone has lived in both places, would love to get your opinions on which is better. If you haven’t, I’m still interested in your thoughts too. My TC: 400k Wife’s TC: 150k

Do you like rain and gloomy weather?

I prefer the more moderate climate there. The weeks where it doesn’t get above 20 degrees and the months of 90s and 100s here get old. The rain and gloomy weather didn’t really bother me for the 2 years I’ve lived there previously.

Don't ever go to Seattle. Not worth it

If you mean "Seattle metro" then I would pick Seattle. If you mean "Seattle", then stay in Denver.

Definitely Seattle Metro, just like I am in the Denver Metro.

TBH, both cities are somewhat expensive, is the COL really that different? Secondly, never move for a job, move because you want to live in that city. You've only been in Denver for 11 months. Frankly, that's not long enough to get through culture shock, make friends, get settled.

COL doesn’t matter a ton to me TBH. I’ve lived in Denver for 5 years so far (just a new house in Denver), and am originally a Colorado native. This job is just the ammunition to move to a city and not have to pay relocation.

If you’ve lived in both places before, then wouldn’t you know which place you prefer?
