Planning to move to SF (not for Amazon) but have option to stay in Seattle. Have heard some bad things about SF in terms of dating and social life (surely can't be worse than Seattle right?). Which city would you pick? My priorities are: 1. Social life/Dating 2. CoL 3. Weather 4. Culture/Food 5. Anything else For context- I'm M22, Indian ethnicity, 6' 185 lbs in fairly decent shape, and slightly extroverted. TC- 176k YOE- 2
Better energy in SF. Can’t ensure dating will be too different. But SF is more influential. The sun helps, people are more open than in Seattle. I moved from Seattle to SF BTW.
how was your experience in Seattle compared to SF?
Seattle is a bit colder socially and more depressed. The sun makes a huge difference but SF does have a (shorter) time with little light too. Seattle and the surroundings are greener and infrastructure is newer/better. Lots of construction. That is way better. Bay Area infrastructure feels old. It’s less green than WA also. That being said, the dance community in Seattle was awesome and I would say it was bigger and maybe better than in SF, but if we aggregate the Bay then here it’s larger. The Bay Area is huge and more fractured. San José is 1 hour from SF. In certain ways it feels like several different cities. Seattle feels more integrated, and Amazon being in Downtown helps. It may start to change a bit with expansion. But also in the Bay Area you have lots of places to visit nearby and even not too far. Napa, Tahoe, San José, Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Big Sur, even LA is not tremendously far. I recommend having a car.
Lahore
lol.
Hello, I know it's not right place. But, would it be possible to refer me? I'm lookng for referrals at DD!
Thosw features, age and TC dont match buddy. You wont be asking here for advice. Come clean.
lol just being truthful, i graduated college early so started working just before 21. also this is literally my first blind post
Buy a Tesla cybertruck. It is bulletproof and good to park in SF.
Don’t move to Seattle lmfao you’ll regret it especially if ur young, SF would be the safer move and you’ll find a better sense of community there
im already in seattle since the last 2 yrs and dont like it too much, just wanted to get an opinion of SF compared to Seattle too.
I’m moving to SF next month since I got a Google offer (I’m 24) so def feel like the vibes are better for us there! Lived in Seattle for 5 years and I hate it
San diego
love San Diego! wish there were more open roles there tho 😭
Crazy this poll has so many seattle votes. This isn't even remotely close lol
why is SF is way better than Seattle?
It's not even remotely comparable for what you are asking about. Weather, entertainment, culture, not even in the same league. Nothing wrong with seattle, return when you are married with kids and ready to sit in traffic in the rain ;)
both have good and bad neighborhoods. Social life in any big & diverse city depends on you, not the city. CoL difference is there but not significant enough for this decision. Weather, culture, food - all better in SF. Depending on the industry, more imp shit happens in SF than Seattle so a young person might benefit from building network here. At the end of the day, SF is tier 1 city, Seattle is tier 2. With all that being said, I’m from SF, only lived in Seattle for a 3 month internship and maybe a tad bit biased.
thanks for the detailed answer!
SF > Seattle. Probably should think about moving to NYC based on your priorities.

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
SF is an absolute dump. Last place I'll live
Have you lived there?
No, obviously not lol. McDonald's watches fox news.
