Dearest Blinders, Looking to get some management and career advice. Background: Ive worked in DoD and Tech my entire life. I have 18 years of experience in systems, cloud, security, compliance, infrastructure, and software engineering. Im 34 in 3 months. I own: - Hair Salons - Towing & Repossession Company - Finance Company - Real Estate Company - eSports Team (finalizing this week) Im looking to build an Operations Center to centralize all of my efforts, and do an inhouse CoLo datacenter to support all of my tech efforts. Im hoping from this side of the ask to get some open source tech stack recommendations to help me centralize and deduplicate hardware and software stacks & cost. I currently have a small datacenter I built myself that Im upgrading soon to a bigger space with 20+ racks, and I run: - Dell Hardware - - 6XX & 7XX series - COTS UPS, PDU, KVM, Switching & Routing - Proxmox - Ceph clustered storage - HAProxy for LB - PFSense (firewall/VPN) - Apache for web services - Nextcloud/Ceph for file storage/services - Citadel for Email services - Elastic for data - Gitlab for CI/CD - LXD & Docker for containers - Custom applications I wrote in Django, Python, Bootstrap, Javascript, HTML5, Node.JS, etc I really want to add Kafka, RabbitMQ, ZeroMQ, NiFi, Streamsets, Airflow, and a few other Apache family stacks because they seem fun & useful, but I dont want to be extra, but I also dont want to have to redo things in the future unless I absolutely must. Im also looking at building several AI and ML projects to help with workflow automations, cost & risk controls, and automating tedious processes that are just annoying to deal with. Career wise, I want to keep working in tech since Im in love with what I do, and my operations center overseas everything for me, and I just oversee KPIs and reports review so I can ensure everything stays status quo. I want to move into management and leadership roles in tech, but Im not sure how to translate or communicate my side businesses to resume language without getting instantly rejected for seeming too distracted. What are your thoughts and advice? Im really grateful for any advice or thoughts you may have to offer. TC: 220K (tech)
