My wife works as an Energy Engineer and has good data analysis skills but the company she works for is a sinking ship. She works on excel doing data analysis everyday. She has realized her strength and wants to move to Data Analytics. Any advice how she can make that move? Any courses that you think may help? Any companies that hire Energy Engineers with such skillset? She has Masters in Electrical Engineering with 5 years work experience.
If she doesn't program currently, then she'll probably have to come in entry level because Excel is too slow and not scalable for analytics. Having development skills will help her better understand how do automate processes and analysis which is at the core of all data science / analytics / BI jobs. I recommend learning SQL first and add on R or Python later. Unless she's exiting to another energy company, she won't have the industry background to make relevant use of R and Python for ad-hoc analysis anyways, and likewise lateralling to a data scientist role is probably out of reach

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
She’ll probably have to start at entry level. At least try and learn statistical programming languages (eg R, Python) rather than excel.
