Trying to spec out a Tesla and see they are offering a $10k option for self driving. I’m not well versed in this tech. I know it’s in beta but if it’s actually going to be functional and released down the road, 10k sounds like a bargain. Anyone actually used this tech before (FSD beta)? How does it compare to the competition (cruise and waymo). If the beta FSD isn’t progressing as well as competition offerings , prob not going to drop $10k on an Elon empty promise. #tesla #cruiseautomation #waymo #ford #generalmotors #autonomous
FSD isn’t worth it in my opinion. I suggest doing a test drive and trying out all the features. If you’re still not sure, get a month subscription of it and then make your final decision.
I test drove but only was given cars with autopilot. No FSD options. Apparently, only certain owner are invited to beta test the hardware.
It’s all Vaporware. You have to be an idiot to buy it for 10k. It’s basically paying 10k to be a beta tester for a product that may never work. Musk said there would be a million robo taxis on the road by 2020. The whole self driving thing from Tesla is borderline fraud.
I bought a Tesla and no d@mn way I was giving them $10K to help them train their AI/ML model. The product is still beta 😂
Yep, if it was $99 per month. Not giving them $200 a month for beta software. The auto pilot that comes with the Tesla is enough for me and I only use it on boring drives. I like the acceleration so I don’t use auto pilot, and wouldnt probably use FSD much either. For the money it’s not worth it for me.
I see. Do you know if FSD is all software or there is a hardware component of it on every car. Like in 3 years, for my car to actually use FSD, I’ll need some kind of fancy hardware upgrade? Like computers for example and new hardware...cpu/gpu etc.
All Tesla’s already have the supporting hardware for FSD. Tesla moved all there 2021 cars to Tesla vision so FSD is completely relying on camera data and not radars. All past Tesla’s have the required cameras for Tesla vision FSD to work. It just software at this point that has to be updated for the new FSD.
If they dropped the price of their FSD I might buy it. But I’m not going to pay you for a hope and dream that will come some day. I love Tesla but not enough to part with my hard earned money for some BS, half @ss working beta software.
I think it’s been going up. I need to do some searching but FSD might have been 7k at one point.
Correct, it was cheaper before. If their goal is to continue raising the price less and less people will buy it. If it eventually hit $15k or $20K just for FSD you are pricing yourself out of the market for what most people would be willing to pay.
Got my FSD Chip last year and it works absolutely fine.
Is this something you need to install in your car yourself? So for 10k I get a chip that enables the beta? Is it true that even with the chip, they may not let me use the FSD software if I’m not selected for beta participation? My past driving record hasn’t been errrr the best. Lots of speeding tickets lol.
They sent me an email and said that the FSD can be installed. They came home and installed it. All of the features are beta so it’s under improvement. I accept that it’s not fully self driving but I do use their features. I have no problem being their beta tester.
You are paying 10k for the car to painfully slowly come to you in a parking lot. Fsd is always going to be 1 year away
The summon mode is just a gimmick!! 😂
You are paying $10k to put your life as a datapoint to train Tesla’s ML models 🤡
Very good point. The way the rep explained it is 10k should be viewed as a steep discount. If this stuff was ready for prime time, it could cost way more. I wasn’t exactly buying into the explanation....
