Wow. Try selling an iPhone on eBay. Nothing but hacks trying to get you to ship your phone off without paying. I’ve forwarded about 10 emails to spoof@ebay.com. I’m so done with their platform. Screw it. I’m just giving the phones to family members. Has eBay always been this bad? Is FB marketplace equally as bad? @ebay
Add in description you only ship to confirmed and verified PayPal address upon payment clearance. Must have minimum feedback. Ignore all the scammers and spammers. Done. Or better yet sell on OfferUp, Craigslist and meet in a public place. Or even better sell it on an internal sell/buy portal. Not sure about Apple but it exists in most companies.
Post it to Marketplace and if it is not gone in 24 hours I will give you all the BTC I have.
Posted. Getting spammed with people asking for huge discounts and offering 50% asking. The phone is priced fair. This is after I put in all caps, “FIRM PRICE. NO HAGGLING”. Lol. Selling sucks ass.
That sucks... sorry. Any actual good offers?
Phones specifically are notoriously difficult to sell on eBay. I’ve successfully sold 3 iPhones there though with no issues you just have to put your BS detector on max.
Why is it difficult? Just sold a Galaxy S6 and got tons of bids. I just make sure to disable international bids and I ignore all the messages trying to get me to sell at certain prices.
Two times I tried to sell a phone, the auction went smoothly for a while and then it just got ridiculous. There were two users that bumped up the bidding to something like $2k on a $500 phone. Obviously fake. It resulted in a lot of wasted time and effort. I ended up selling them on Craigslist both times. FB Marketplace wasn't around at the time (and I've still never used it).
Just sell on Craigslist. No fees and there's no shortage of people interested.
Thanks for the feedback. I have 2 identical phones, so I’ll try one more time on eBay and another on FB. Should be a good A\B test.
Selling phones on Ebay is the worst. You have to suffer through a bunch of Russian deadbeat winning bids. They’re probably in a dozen different auctions with high hidden bids and only pay on the one where their winning bid is the lowest. Better to try BIN.
I first tried an auction. I saw normal bids where I expected them to be. Then 2 yahoos overbid by $200, then by $600 to make it seem like it was a real nail biter and I was benefiting from a fool. Then the buyer proceeds to tell me the gift is for a relative over seas and to send it ASAP. Fake phishing email saying I’m funded and guaranteed the money, only now there was an additional $150 added to the top bid for no apparent reason. But before then was a bunch of unsolicited emails and phishing attacks. I tried again with just a fixed price sale and it was the same old shit. So much spam. eBay is such garbage.
Ebay rocks dude!
Fix your shit man! Otherwise you'll need to be looking for a new job.
Alright boss. On it.
I had the worst experience where the guy winning the bid wouldn't pay. I was trying to cancel the transaction and relist but he wouldn't let me cancel it. His argument was "I need the money this month. I'll pay with my next month's pay check". I'm not kidding. And eBay sided with him. WTF!
Yes exactly, eBay is trash. Always sides with buyer.
Can’t you just open another auction and let the previous one expire and then close it as “item no longer in supply”? There’s some limit to wait for complete funding.
It recently got much much worse. I was pretty loyal user for over 10 yrs, deactivated my acct last quarter
Deactivated? Why?
No response to the same question asked 8x. Finally called, got conflicting information from 3 people across the same vertical level within the org. Clearly don't give a shit about customers, cumulatively had bought and sold well into 6 figures over the past decade.
I've had a significantly better experience with selling on FB marketplace than eBay.
