How would you rate semiconductor companies in India, let's say from Tier 1 to Tier 4. Please write down your comments and I'll update the common ones here. Evaluation criteria - Pay + Prestige Tier 1 - Nvidia / Google / Apple / Qualcomm Tier 2 - Intel / AMD / Broadcom Tier 3 - Arm / TI / ADI / Samsung / Nxp / Synopsys / Cadence Tier 4 - Infineon / ST / Western digital / Micron / Mediatek / Mentor #semiconductor #hardware #india #salary #nvidia #google #qualcomm #apple #amazon #intel #amd #ti #synopsis #cadence #infineon #marvell #samsung #westerndigital #stmicroelectronics #nxp
You can put intel, brcm in tier 2 as well. Tier 3 : TI, infineon, nxp, adi, marvell Tier 4: wd, st
ter 1 - Nvidia / Google / Apple / .. Tier 2 - Qualcomm / intel/Amd Tier 3 - TI/ ADI/Samsung/NxP/Marvell Tier 4 - Western digital / Infineon/Micron/Mediatek
Tier 1-Apple/Google/Nvidia may be Qcom Tier 2- QCOm/intel/AMD/TI/samsung/Broadcom Tier 3- nxp/micron/mediatek/ST Tier 4 - Infenion/Marvel/western digital/mentor/
I know Google is a big company, but is it really tier 1 for semi conductor? Does Apple do semiconductor work in India? I personally think ARM is tier 1(but to be frank I haven't worked anywhere else)
Yes Apple does. Google is hiring aggressively and as per pay + prestige, it would definitely go in that tier 1 list. Although someome from their HW team can better confirm. Arm is tier 3 I believe, their pay isn't exactly great plus no stocks. I know the work there might be interesting but that isn't a parameter here.
Apple doesn't do HW in India yet to the best of my knowledge
What is the basis of putting Qcom and AMD in tier 2. Qualcomm and AMD offers in India are very comparable to NVIDIA if not better. Also with pay revision in Intel, I am not sure where they stand now. Will have to wait and see if movement to Intel goes up from other companies
Correct. Qcom pay is at par with Nvidia but their reputation is not that good due to poor wlb. Intel's recent offers are easily beating both amd, qualcomm. Saw one offer here in blind, where they matched nvidia unvested RSUs with something around 200k joining stocks
Intel offers for senior positions are great, but if YOE < 4, they still really low ball. That has been my recent experience.
Can someone confirm for Amazon?
Why is infineon in tier 4? Now with revised pay scale.
Infineon is still behind, look at the RSUs they give, its not even comparable to others. What revision are you exactly talking about? I know some of my friends who still got 10-12% raise. Infineon is not a company where you get a competitive pay, it has its pros as well no doubt.
Atleast for freshers and 2-3 years exp.. pay is at par with companies you stated as tier 2 and tier 3. Only difference with tier 1 is RSUs. They just started RSUs, will take time to make significant difference. Pay scales have been revised as they are offering way better for new hires.
You should add Silicon Labs as well to the list. And it should be in tier 3.
Samsung is tier 3 ?
Is your tier based on TC ?
Pay + Prestige. I read a similar post where this was considered for evaluating orgs in US, wanted to know a similar list for India.
Qualcomm should be tier 2 then
