Modi is a legend, will be remembered for centuries to come
Do you like your job and company? Do you have a life outside of work?
Yes. Yes and yes. The problems are really challenging, people are smart as hell. I think our org structure is a bit wrong but solvable. I think the company takes heat because Mark was young and he didn't care as much about PR and what the media really said. We are human too so yes there is life outside of work. In fact without that most people don't make it up here. I do a ton of community building and service
Company takes heat because Mark is a narcissistic asshole who stole the entire idea from someone else and now a self proclaimed genius when in fact he's just a grifter like Bill Gates, con men.
How do I become you
Be your own self, seriously.
OP youre saying you dont try to fake a persona at work or just please others in higher positions even if you dont like them?
How many ppl reporting to you?
Prob 1
Or 2
Why the interviewers are so rude at Meta ?
You should leave them feedback if that's the case. People in tech and especially ones in fang think they are different quality and better than everyone else. There is no humility in most
Thanks! I was referred for a position last year and was rejected even without a phone interview? I failed phone twice in the past. Is my profile blacklisted?
Are you transitioning to an IC role. What's your TC?
Responded somewhere above/below. TC is 1.8 but depends on the stock. I don't really know what it is exactly. I'm not transitioning to IC. I don't think I can do IC work at the same level I am now.
Why not? IC leveling runs parallel to management. Amazon has L11 IC role. I guess you prefer management over IC. Enlighten me?
Metaverse vs AI ?
Background in AI. If I were to bet a company on one of these it would be AI. I would like to have a small meta org though
Any advice for recent college grads in moving up the latter?
Too open ended question but I'll answer the generic path. Be a good eng, follow a strong tech lead, do what they say. This could easily happen in a smallish company. After some time move to a big name and prove you can handle being a senior there. They do stuff differently not better or worse but different. I think then you take a bet on a small company again and raise up there with the company. You need to know what your management wants and solve that. Nobody cares about the shinny new infra, just deliver what your management wants both as an IC and as a manager
Last line is the key.
How do you prevent yourself from being overwhelmed by too many threads
Blind threads or workchat threads 😄
How do you context switch and what do you prioritize? Is there enough hours in the day? How long do you usually work at your level? Sorry that's alot of questions.
When will meta unfreeze hiring? My interview was cancelled last year
Some roles are open. General hiring is anyone's guess but I don't think it's happening anytime soon. Zuck is going on paternity leave and nobody will start hiring without his input
For how long is he gone?
Are you getting laid off soon?
Chill yo 🤣
Possible. I'd be surprised though as my org is quite compact and we deliver well
