I am currently in the interview process for a Senior Program Manager role at Microsoft. Browsed blind to see what salary ranges are and tbh I’m kinda disappointed - seems like the range is 160-180k base and 100 stock over 4yrs + 15% annual bonus I’m a Program Manager L5 at Google and my base is 175K, TC is 295K.. I have 11 yoe. I’m expecting a year end raise in base and stock which will bump me up for 2022. I’m debating if I should continue the interview process since it seems like MS won’t pay more than I’m already earning. I’d be looking for a TC in at least 350+ Any thoughts or any offers from MS for a senior program manager align with my expectations?
Check levels.fyi if L64 engineering it should easily map on base and 100K stock would be majorly low
It is engineering, but not sure the level. I just cleared the phone interview and now moving to the final. I did check levels.fyi and see that L65 is more inline with what I currently make.
That pay doesn’t sound like a current senior PM pay! It also depends on where you live.
What is the pay?
I’m in NYC
It is non tech so pay is not that high
With current MSFT stock price I think you might get what you are looking for finish the interview and be assertive what you want. Good luck
I feel the same. Currently at TC $275k and want $300k to move. Looking at L63-64 Sr Program Mgr roles in engineering, but not sure if the comp will clear.
Are you currently interviewing? I’m talking to my recruiter to set expectations before moving forward. I was asked salary expectations but didn’t want to throw out the first number cause I figured it’d be competitive to Google; boy am I wrong
Yes, I passed the phone screen and recruiting is dragging their feet with getting the loop scheduled. I put market comp as my salary expectation. I would guess $300k is max, but it’s possible they can make it round out with a sign on bonus and RSUs.
Update: told them about my expectations, agreed they’d meet it, so I went through with the interview. Post interview, I was offered a max TC of $266K. recruiter said the team loves me and wants to pay more but the comp team wouldn’t let them.
Thanks for sharing the update. You gonna take it?
Sounds like that'd be a 30k paycut plus losses in benefits and perks that Microsoft doesn't have
It will likely not be more than what you make. You need to ask for L65 to even meet that comp
Senior TPM will likely be 100k less than your expectation
Yeah I just checked levels.fyi. Does it make sense to ask for a higher level prior to the final interview?
