I have been looking at a Series A startup in SF and would be their first PM hire. They have raised 20mil so far. Their compensation is 135k and 0.2% equity or 150k and 0.1% equity. YOE: 5 and current TC: 250k Its an industry Im interested in but would I be taking too much of a paycut for this role? Are there other things I should ask for now to ensure I dont get diluted in the future?
0.2% is insulting.
Waste of time. That pct isn’t worth shit by the time it gets diluted after multiple funding rounds.
Exactly
The equity is essentially meaningless then. So it sounds like I need to see how excited I am about the industry and if I’m going to be able to grow incredibly more from a career perspective here vs a large company
What would be a good percentage for a series A startup?

Lasik cost
0.2% total for four years? No. If you want you can invest cash $100k pretax from you salary to the company and that may result in higher equity. Unless you know the founders- well then you won’t need to ask here.
