Anyone from #shopify share some insights about the Tobi's email recently disclosed in BI? I'm about to sign the offer, but kind of curious what's going on there. I mean, the rest of what he said makes sense and kinda agree. But 40% YOY growth? How? Any directions or details given from HR related to this measure?
40% better every year only if you increase my salary by 40% every year
I wish, or at least 40% yoy growth in stock
Doesn’t seem like a great place TBH. Did you officially sign yet? If not, I would take this as a blessing and a sign— look elsewhere.
40% growth doesn’t mean performance. It means growth - like a growth mindset. This could be learning new skills, or working to become a better leader, or ways to innovate and increase leverage. Striving to be better tomorrow than you were today.
ignore the 40% number. tobi is the ceo, but at the end of the day, doesn’t run the eng dept. impact, and growing your impact through context and experience, is what matters. “40%” never comes up and honestly most people forgot about it until this email from last summer was dredged up
Thanks guys for the comments. Yeah, that's what I was expecting.. I mean, when that email went to public, yes, that's a bit aggressive and at the same time, I see why people are mad at it. Some of the words in that email makes sense except for the 40% part if you were to read it without much context from the inside.
I don’t understand why an email from 2020 would brought up now.
Sounds like pip culture is on the horizon over there cowboy.
