Given the stock price and cash on hand, seems like a steal given that Block is our biggest customer. #marqeta #block #acquisition #tech #fintech
What does marqueta do?
The primary revenue driver is interchange fees on card transactions as an intermediary between banks and our customers.
Marqeta has to agree to sell, who says Block hasn't tried before???
Marqeta management is eating the company alive. Straight cannibalism. There won't be anything left to buy in a year.
Why would Block buy them? They can simply negotiate the rate they pay Marqeta lower and string them along. It’s a zombie company unless they can diversify their revenue away from Block.
It's not that easy to move over to a new card issuer .... MQ is DEEPLY rooted in SQ across multiple business lines
Regardless of what the pundits think, MQ does have some leverage
Seeking the easy way out cause stock is in dump
Not necessarily. Stock price is low but I expect it to rebound as fintech as a whole rebounds and the customer base diversifies. But from the Block perspective I have a hard time understanding "why not" at the current price.
Marqeta's stock price and the sector have little to do with each other and more to do with its reliance on Block for the majority of its business. If you listened to the last earnings call, the execs didn't do anything to out that fear to bed if anything, it's worse now.
