I use github and I like it. They are remote-first which is a plus. The pay isn't bad according to levels fyi. So should I apply to github? How is the culture and wlb? How is the Community/Feed team? I'm L5 at Google and would be aiming for a Staff position at github. Blind tax: TC $380k (without stock appreciation) L5 10 yoe
I applied there. The interview was easy but I had a difficult time with recruiters as they were clearly overworked. Their team matching made me feel like the recruiters completely ignored my interests. I ended up not joining.
You cant just team switch? Or was this before the acquisition
You can’t just switch as a Microsoft employee, you have to do a full interview loop.
Definitely worth applying Feel free to DM me if you have any questions WLB is great and community team has some nice people
Hello. Could I dm you regarding application info?
Go ahead Oracle
I really like it here. My team is very friendly, wlb is good :)
Do u mind if I can PM for a referral?
DON'T. GitHub supports Russian aggression.
How?
They do business with all major firms even the KGB through some shell company and even after the attacks sales continued business as usual
Applying. Are interviews Leetcode based problem solving? What's the difficulty level in general?
This is pretty accurate but they got rid of diversity and inclusion interview: https://www.codinginterview.com/github-interview-process Questions are relatively easy coding tasks but you need to be fast to complete on time. Implement a server that does X, implement a client that does Y, review this pull request.
So much is dependent on your team really. Communities is one of the better ones though.
