I have receny had talks with my manager about my career progression and they have mentioned they are looking into getting me a promotion; but they havent given me a time table on when and the title is different than im actually looking for. I have had other companies approach me for a new position at the level I desire. Should I try and get an offer from a new company to speed up my internal promotion or should I give my company more time to get it sorted out naturally?
I would be prepared to take your outside offer in case they don’t give you want you want. I also feel it’s messed up when you have to force a company to give you a promotion you deserve. I’m not sure what kind of marketer you are but if you’re in anything under the performance marketing umbrella the job market is really good right now so I’d probably lean towards just leaving.
I definitely won’t wave an offer in front of my current company if it’s not something I would consider. I enjoy my current team, but they have certain career progression timetables that I don’t necessarily agree with.
